MIPAS was an IR limb emission spectrometer on the Envisat platform. It measured during day and night, pole-to-pole, at an altitude range from 6 to 70 km (170 km), depending on the measurement mode, producing more than 1000 profiles/day. The MIPAS level-2 data are operationally processed at ESA/DLR, with the scientific prototype processor being operated at IFAC Florence. There also exist three independent research level-2 processors, hosted at ISAC-CNR/University of Bologna, Oxford University and KIT IMK/IAA. All four processors rely on the same level-1b data provided by ESA but the level-2 algorithms are different. In the frame of ESA's the Ozone Climate Change Initiative project, the generation of a merged ozone data product from the four processors is on-going. We present the merging strategy and the validation results of the merged MIPAS ozone dataset corresponding to MIPAS reduced resolution period.
