ESA's Sentinel-5 Precursor is an operational Copernicus mission. It is the link between the past and current scientific atmospheric composition missions and the Sentinel-4 and -5, building on the heritage of GOME(-2), SCIAMACHY and OMI. Scientific show-cases for future possible exploitation of the atmospheric Sentinel missions based on current or past satellites (e.g. Metop, Enivsat) in the field of air quality, ozone & UV, and climate monitoring are being presented. Special emphasis is given to demonstrate the expected improvement by the usage of the upcoming data from the Sentinel-5 Precursor mission (e.g. enhanced air quality monitoring by facilitating better spatial resolution measurements), and potential synergies with other satellite missions (e.g. Ozone Mapping Profiler Suite).
